Commercial & Industry: Group Financial Controller

Reporting to: Chairman and CEO of the Group

Responsible for: All aspects of Group financial management and monitoring of
the internal control environment

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Preparation of accounts

• Ensure the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, financial accounts and various reports for operational management

• Responsible for AP, AR, GL including review of month end balance sheets, reconciliations and P & L

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Group’s accounting records and financial systems

• Production of statutory accounts for the Group and its various subsidiary companies as and when required in accordance with the relevant accounting principles and the legislation

• Play a full part in providing relevant & timely financial information to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the Group’s strategy and objectives

Budgets and forecasts

• Preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans and continued monitoring & review of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances to the stakeholders

Financial management & controls

• Effectively manage the working capital components of the Group with specific attention to stock, debtors and cash balances

• Active management of overheads whilst seeking out areas for efficiencies for savings

• Overseeing monthly processing of payroll and payments to employees

• Review and update, in line with good practice, the Group’s internal control environment and produce a Controls and Procedures manual for review and adoption by management

• To assist in respect of periodic reports to the Group’s Audit Committee explaining the processes adopted and undertaken by management to keep under regular review the effectiveness of internal controls covering financial, operational & compliance controls

• Play an active role in assisting management in the risk assessment process and embedding a risk management culture throughout the organization


• Support in the development and execution of the Group’s taxation strategy

• Ensure returns for Corporation tax, GST and other relevant taxes are submitted, payments made on time and all relevant regulations complied

Information technology

• To take a lead role in the maintenance and upgrading of the ERP Navision System

• Working closely with IT to ensure users have access to the key components of the accounting system, receive adequate training and have the essential reports readily available to facilitate decision making and problem solving


• Effectively manage, motivate and develop the Finance dept

• Supervise & review performance of individuals in the team

• Implementation of a change management culture by challenging & replacing established processes and procedures where necessary

• Give direction and leadership towards the achievement of each division’s strategy and its annual goals and objectives

• Liaise with different departments to ensure the Finance dept is properly supporting the needs of the operating businesses


• Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, brokers, bankers and other parties as directed

• Keep stakeholders up to date on progress against key milestones

• Ensure the stakeholders is kept informed of industry developments which are relevant to the operation of an efficient finance function

• Carry out any further tasks for which your qualifications & experience are suited as directed by the Company


• Bachelor in Accountancy or ACCA qualifications or equivalent

• Qualified Accountant with at least 7 years of experience in manufacturing / distribution or relevant industry, with minimum 3 – 5 years of people management experience

• Patience, Resilience and Hands on Attitude is desirable

• Strong communicator with good interpersonal skills and able to provide useful advice to management

• Well organized and have strong project management skills, with a keen eye for details

• Strong command of English and Chinese writing is essential
